A purchaser is being sought to participate in the renovation project to bring “Avril Mae” back to her former glory. The Yacht has new spars and an extensive wardrobe of recently purchased new sails, together with a beautiful mahogany and leather interior.
THE SCOPE OF THE RENOVATION PROJECT:
The aim is to rebuild her hull in GRP, into which the existing keel (1905) will be encapsulated, and the current mahogany and leather interior will be replaced, together with the existing deck and coach roof. The cockpit will be rebuilt in a compatible style, with the result that Avril Mae will look original, with all the benefits of a GRP hulled Yacht.
PARTICIPATION:
The prospective owner will be encouraged to assist in making key decisions. Whilst it is expected to follow closely to the original design, there are some design features that could be improved. For example: In the area of the cockpit and engine compartment a more modern engine of the same power will take less space, which could enable some redesign of the cabin space.
DURATION:
The project will take 12 months to bring the boat to a stage where final commissioning can take place. Overall time 15-18 months. The budget for the boat in its existing format is expected to be £35,000.
PAYMENT:
The terms for the Basic project are consistent with normal marine contracts:
33% on agreement of the specification and contract.
33% on completion of the new hull, and keel encapsulation.
29% on completion of the boat.
5% on satisfactory trials.
In addition to the basic project, there may be other major items specified by the new owner. (e.g. New engine, electronics etc ) These items will be paid for as they fall due to the supplier of the equipment.
LOCATION:
The boat is currently on the Isle of Wight in undercover storage, ready for the commencement of the project.
